Oculus Drift

sculpture to activate, metal, mirror, 30x30x8cm, 2024

Oculus Drift mimics the form of virtual reality headsets, suspended at eye level. Viewers are invited to slip their faces into the device. Instead of transporting them elsewhere, the two mirrors embedded in its metallic frame return their gaze upon themselves. Eyes appear infinitely multiplied, locked in a recursive loop of self-observation.

An installation that materializes the very act of looking, making it possible to see seeing, Oculus Drift extends the artist’s ongoing exploration of vision machines and the elusive notion of point of view.
